Florida, USA, has been invaded by African giant snails. The Florida government said that the snails not only eat a variety of plants and endanger local agricultural development, but the parasites they carry may infect humans with meningitis. This snail can lay up to 2,000 eggs per year and reproduce very quickly. Florida government departments believe the giant African snail was first introduced to the state through the illegal pet trade.
