On March 30, Dyson announced the launch of a new head-mounted product, the Dyson Zone Air Purifying Headphones. It is reported that this very cyberpunk-looking product combines headphones with an air purifier and is equipped with active noise reduction. According to reports, a dual purification system is integrated into the earphones, and with Dyson digital motors, clean air can be sent to the wearer's breathing area, and the filter can effectively filter pollution and harmful gases.
According to Dyson, this product has been developed for 6 years and has gone through more than 500 iterative models. To better simulate usage scenarios, Dyson engineers have developed a set of simulated mannequins with mechanical lungs that can breathe like humans and allow engineers to precisely test the flow of air through the headset.
According to Dyson, the working principle of the Dyson Zone is to filter the air through the motor of the earmuff, and then transmit it to the mouth and nose through the closed air channel. To put it simply, it is to add an extra layer of peripheral filtering to the ordinary earphone, and then drive the fan through the motors on both sides to continuously inhale air. Because of the existence of the filter screen, the outside air can be purified and finally delivered to the front through this hollow pipe.
It is reported that although Dyson's traditional air purifiers use HEPA high-efficiency filters, because this product requires a relatively high air flow to function, and the DysonZone is small in size, Dyson has developed a high-efficiency filter. A negatively charged, slimmer electrostatic filter that fits inside the earcups, but the filter needs to be replaced once a year.
Dyson said: "Six years ago, Dyson engineers proposed the concept of "mobile purification". Through continuous development and iteration, they finally combined this idea with the acoustic system to create a revolutionary purification product."
In terms of headphone function, Dyson air purification headphones have 3 built-in active noise reduction modes, including immersion mode, call mode and transparent mode, and the air purification mode provides four kinds of low speed, medium speed, high speed and automatic.
In terms of battery life, according to foreign media reports, the Dyson Zone has a battery life of only 4.5 hours in low-speed air purification mode, and more than 40 hours in pure music playback mode. The current price has not been disclosed. It is understood that the product is expected to be officially launched in the fall of 2022.
